Life-sized skeleton

This is the round-up pattern for all parts of the anatomically correct skeleton I have created. This skeleton contains all the bones in the human body (apart from the ear bones) and is approximately life-sized.

2024 update:

A lot of people have been asking me what quantity of yarn is needed in each colour to create the full skeleton. I have to admit that I was rather slap-dash with keeping track of how much yarn I was using when designing the skeleton, but going back through my order history my best guess is as follows:

  • White 4ply (anchor creativa): 13
  • Smokey blue #10 (i.e. Rico essentials crochet cotton): 3
  • Vanilla #10: 2
  • White #10: 7 (Although my instinct is that this is an over-estimate and I'd probably guess it would be closer to 3-4)
  • White dk (Rico essentials): 2 (Although this was only used for one of the bones and I found that using the sport and 4ply together gave pretty much the same result)

  2. I heard your interview on Radio Devon on my drive home from work, so just HAD to look this up! Especially since my wife is a mad keen crochet'er (or hooker as she calls herself!). I'll have to show her this page!
